I wasted no time getting started on the playroom this week. I had the idea in my head about how I wanted to arrange everything, but I wanted to flush it out to make sure it’d work.
Currently, Lily’s kitchen set and drawers are in the kitchen nook while her easel is in the family room along with various other toys. It gets messy pretty quickly and because the TV is out there she tends to zone out whenever it’s on.
The plan is to move ALL of this into the front living room so all of her toys are in one spot. I’m also hoping it will give her a more focused area to play and create. This Pin illustrates the concept:
I cleared out the room, took the pictures off the wall, and started measuring.
Luckily that stag head is perfectly centered on the wall, so I have a starting point for the painted arch I want to do on the wall. I haven’t decided if the stag head is gonna stay or not.
Shortly after I took this photo I moved the kitchen set, drawers, and easel so I could play around with placement. I won’t show you a photo yet because it’s currently a mess 😉 but at least I know my idea is going to work. That and it’s approved by Lily.
Playroom Mood Board
Here’s my quick and dirty mood board I came up with. I’m going for a boho-neutral playroom.
The table and chairs are the new furniture piece coming into the room, so I ordered them right away to avoid any delays. There are a few other things from IKEA I want to bring in, so I’ll be doing a shopping trip soon.
Now that I know my concept is going to work, the next step is to choose a color and paint the arch. I’m leaning toward one of the colors I used for my #TrashToTerracotta project. Since I have sample pots, I’ll be playing around with swatches this weekend.
