Playroom | ORC Fall 2021: Week 6

We’re in the final weeks, and now everything is coming together! This past week I gave Lily’s IKEA Duktig Play Kitchen a little makeover, and I love how it turned out!

I perused so many Duktig makeovers on Pinterest that my home feed is nothing but IKEA kitchens and playrooms. 😂 As much as I loved all the different versions where the doors and frame were painted, I knew that wasn’t going to be an option due to time. Plus, we have a lot of color happening as it is, so I figured upgrading the hardware could still give it some life.

DIY Boho IKEA Kitchen Hack

Here’s everything I did:

• I created a backsplash using a white foam board and peel-and-stick subway tile
• I spray painted the faucet and sink. I also mounted the sink underneath to avoid additional wear-and-tear since Lily likes to take the sink out.
• I added three knobs for the stovetop
• I replaced the handles with wooden ones
• I added rattan cane webbing to the windows

What a difference a few changes can make to a basic kitchen set! I’m glad I was able to have a little extra time to give her kitchen some TLC. It definitely adds to the space, and with the new bookshelves I got it’s going to tie everything together quite nicely.
