meet the geek
If you're lacking the skills to bring your vision to life or you need to check a new website off your to-do list… welcome, you’re in the right place.
I’m the designer behind The Lovely Geek, a one-woman web design studio based in the Sacramento area of California.
I’m dedicated to creating Showit websites for women-owned service-based businesses that reflects their expertise and captivates their audience. I’m able to give unique insight into what your clients seek in your website because I personally invest in the type of services my clients offer.
Let's Do This
In the summer of 2002, I started teaching myself how to code and design websites. Little did I know this would start me down the path of a career I didn't even think was possible.
What started as a hobby led to pursuing a degree and eventually full-time occupation. I freelanced through college, and by the time I graduated I was already working for my first agency. I gained a ton of experience, adding project management, print design, and social media marketing to my repertoire.
After nearly a decade of working for agencies, I decided to return to freelancing in order to be at home with my kids. I worked at the big agencies long enough to see how I can help the small businesses. I love the clients I work with, and the best part is I get to spend my time doing what I enjoy for a living.
I became an official Showit Design Partner in 2023. Despite the numerous Showit designers out there, only a select few are invited to be Showit Design Partners each year. Becoming a Design Partner involves passing the Design Market Standards course, submitting custom client sites built on Showit, and receiving feedback from those clients about their experience working with me.
“Our Design Partner program recognizes experienced Showit website designers who have produced consistently beautiful site designs, follow our design standards, and provide a great client experience.”
With over 20 years in the web design industry and my expertise with the Showit platform, you can trust you'll get the best design for your business, whether you choose one of my templates or a custom design.
What I Stand For
In my home and my business, the way I operate is simple: be a good human. Everyone is welcome here.
Black Lives Matter. Science is real, and news is not fake. Love is love and always wins. Women's rights are human rights and have the right to control their own bodies. Humans are not illegal. Kindness is everything.
Compassion, fairness, and the willingness to do better is at the heart of everything I do. Hate has no home here. If you consider these beliefs to be “woke” then I’m probably not a good fit for your project.
I’m a proud bank geek and soundtrack lover. You can usually find me playing my flute along to my favorite movie scores.
I’ve been a Star Wars fan for over 30 years starting back when the fandom was dormant. Meeting George Lucas is on my list of bragging rights.
I have a special affinity to the “woo” such as crystals, tarot, and astrology. I'm an Aquarius sun, Gemini moon, and Leo rising. My Human Design type is Manifestor.
Currently when I'm not creating websites, I can most likely be found on my Peloton bike, exploring Sacramento with my sister, nerding out over tech with my husband, or chasing my two littles around the house. Here are some blog posts to start with if you’re new here and want to learn more about me and my life.
The journey to motherhood wasn't easy. After a PCOS diagnosis and two miscarriages, my daughter was born in 2019 followed by my son in 2021.

I love decorating and organizing my home! I’m particularly a big fan of Mid-Century Modern which stems from my Danish roots.
I met the love of my life, Joshua, during our senior year of high school. We tied the knot in 2010, and we’ve been together for almost 20 years!
