The nesting during this pregnancy is no joke. My spice cabinet is one of the many spaces in my home that has benefited from it, and today I thought I’d share its quick little makeover.
Before, it was a cluttered mess of spices and herbs in big bottles from Sam’s Club/Costco and small bottles from Target and Whole Foods. The top shelf was sort of a backstock of my oils.
Since I was also organizing my pantry, I decided to move the oils there and dedicate this cabinet strictly to my spices.
Instagram can be a very dangerous place, especially when you’re nesting, and the spice cabinet was no exception. Ever since I saw Teresa’s spice wall I knew I wanted that for my space.
After doing some measuring I picked out the same jars and labels plus two expandable shelves. I already had a basket on hand that I decided to use as backstock for my spices. I tackled my cabinet Home Edit style, taking everything out and throwing away anything that expired, which turned out there was a lot. 👀
Since I’m the cook, it was important that this cabinet be short-person-friendly. Putting everything in smaller jars allowed me to adjust the shelves more efficiently making everything easier to access. My most frequently used spices are on the bottom shelf, everything else is on the second shelf followed by backstock on the top shelf. Putting all the backstock in a basket with handles that I can easily grab has also helped too.
