Playroom | ORC Fall 2021: Week 4
Today marks the halfway point of the One Room Challenge, and I’m feeling pretty good about my progress so far. I put the finishing touches on my wall arch in the form of two plant shelves, and I LOVE it! 😍 I can’t stop coming out to stare.
The table + chair set arrived yesterday, and now all that’s left is making a decision on the bookshelf and doing a little makeover on the kitchen set.
How I Made My Painted Arch Plant Wall
In my previous post, I shared how I made the painted wall arch by following this tutorial. Now that I got that part complete it was time to make the plant shelves.
First I put up some painter’s tape to determine where I wanted my shelves and how long I wanted them to be.
I went to Home Depot and bought the following:
For the plants, I hit up my local Green Acres Nursery & Supply. I picked up 3.25″x2.75″ terracotta pots and a variety of succulents. Everything else I had for the project like the paint and supplies I already had on hand.
I painted the shelves using the same color I used for the wall, Behr’s Terra Cotta Clay. While I waited for the paint to dry I sanded the corner braces first using a 60 grit paper and then a 100 grit paper. Then I sprayed them with the automotive primer.
Once everything was dry, Joshua mounted the shelves, and then I used a foam brush to paint the brackets. The final touch was adding in my plants (after I watered them and put them into Planta).
And there you have it! My arch plant wall is officially complete!
