Today I am happy to share that our backyard makeover is complete!
We started this makeover with an overgrown yard that we’ve let go since September. After several failed attempts at our yard we called in the professionals: Joshua’s dad and brother.
They weed-whacked, sprayed round-up, brought in new soil, tilled, added all new irrigation, plants, and grass. And now it’s a clean and beautifully landscaped space one that we can’t stop spending time in. The dogs love it too!
Originally our fire pit was in the middle of the yard. We had the garden beds pulled out and moved the fire pit down in its place. The garden beds were coming apart and the dogs wouldn’t stay out of them, so it was best to take them out.
By bringing the pit down here we’ve also opened up room for more seating on the wall and bench nearby. We have some plans to bring in some solar string lights, but I’m really excited to light a fire down there at our next get-together.
Back in September when we “started” on the backyard, one of the things we did was take out what we believe to be a fountain-turned glorified planter box. We turned the empty space into an herb garden. I have rosemary, cilantro, parsely and mint to start.
This side of the house used to be a dumping ground for debris and dirt. Now, the trees have been cleared (hello, natural light in my office!) there’s a nice path and gravel.
Joshua plans on parking his trailer back here, and maybe one day down the road an RV! #dreaming
We are so happy with how the yard turned out and so grateful that my father in-law and brother in-law were able to make it happen! We love being in the yard now, especially since we topped it off with a variety of solar landscape lighting scattered throughout. It’s a great space both during the day and at night. I can’t wait to entertain here!
