Last weekend was the 2nd annual WordCamp Sacramento. It was organized again by our local Sacramento WordPress Meetup group, and this time it was hosted at the Harper Alumni Center at CSU, Sacramento.
WordCamp is a conference that focuses on everything WordPress. WordCamps are informal, community-organized events that are put together by WordPress users like you. Everyone from casual users to core developers participate, share ideas, and get to know each other.
This year I had the privilege of being a speaker in addition to an attendee. My talk was Best Practices For Creating Content in which I did a 10 minute lightning talk on why you shouldn’t copy and paste from Microsoft Word into the WordPress editor and what you can use instead.

In addition to my talk, I got to attend several great talks throughout the weekend including…
I met a lot of great people, reunited with old colleagues and classmates, and had an overall great time.

If you’re thinking about attending a WordCamp check out WordCamp Central to find one near you. They’re happening all over the world! How awesome is that?

I went to a conference last week and I got the opportunity to listen to a handful of amazing talks, not to mention meet a lot of new people! 🙂 It was a great experience. I just missed out on WordCamp Sydney but maybe next year!
