Playroom | ORC Fall 2021: Week 5

This week a lot of planning and purchasing happened behind the scenes, so there wasn’t really anything to show for progress. My main focus was deciding on what to do regarding the bookshelf and the kitchen set.

Bookshelf

I ended up purchasing two bookshelves on Etsy. Originally I intended to do a little DIY with the IKEA FLISAT shelf, but they appear to be sold out for the foreseeable future and won’t even ship to my area. I found them on Amazon for $49 which is $34 over the retail price. Someone suggested Etsy which led me to for finding this set of two for the same price complete with the rattan cane webbing that I would have used on the IKEA one anyway.

Kitchen

I didn’t want to do anything that involved disassembling the kitchen, and since we’ve got a lot of color going on with walls I’m not going to paint the doors or frame. Instead, I’m keeping things neutral. I’m going to change out the hardware, add some rattan cane webbing, which will match the bookshelf, create a backsplash, add a few knobs, and paint the faucet and sink.

Everything I ordered has been trickling in throughout the week, so the bulk of the kitchen will be tackled this weekend. I did get a head start on the kitchen backsplash though, and it looks so cute! Can’t wait to get the rest of the accessories on this weekend!
