I Met George Lucas

I think my Nana in heaven spiritually sent me the best Christmas gift I could have ever asked for. I met one of the people that I want to meet before I die. Today, I met the man behind Star Wars, George Lucas.

I went out to do a wee bit of last minute Christmas shopping and went over to my nearby shopping center, The Village at Corte Madera. As I was walking in, I thought I saw someone that looked like George Lucas walking several feet away from me. I stopped cold to get a good look and was about 98% sure it was him. He was walking out to his car so I called my mom to tell her I think I just saw him. She urged me to run after him to get his autograph, but I didn’t want to bother him, especially since I didn’t have anything on me for signing.

I watched him load his car with stuff and then realized he was walking back to one of the stores. I followed him in, went up to him, and introduced myself.

ME: Excuse me, but are you George Lucas?
GEORGE: Yes, I am.
ME: Hi! My name is Cristina! *shakes his hand* I know you probably get this all the time, but I just want to say thank you! I’ve been a huge Star Wars fan for over 15 years, and this is such a thrill!
GEORGE: Well, you’re welcome.
ME: Thank you! Merry Christmas!

I walked out of the store shaking with excitement. I called Joshua and my mom to tell them what happened. My mom and sis were bummed I didn’t get an autograph, but the way I see it is I know I met him and that’s all that matters. Besides, I’ve heard rumors that he’s kinda a jerk so I didn’t want to press my luck; that and I’m sure he appreciated me not making a huge deal considering he was in the middle of his Christmas shopping.

I know people have their opinions about him and his directing, but the fact remains is that he is the mastermind behind Star Wars. I love Star Wars; therefore he is my hero. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ME!!!!
