Holiday movies play a big part of the season for us. Every Thanksgiving we kick off our holiday movie-watching with Home Alone, then the next day it’s The Nutcracker while decorating the tree, and by the time Christmas Eve rolls around, we end the night with The Muppet Christmas Carol. While we tend to space these out, sometimes in the days leading up to Christmas we cozy up and have a movie marathon.
I’ll admit, some of these movies I watched as a kid did not age well, but they’re fun to watch as an adult for a good laugh. In my case, they’re also great to share with my daughter because most of these movies I grew up watching every Christmas season.
Where you can stream these movies varies each year, so I’ve linked each movie to their respective page on JustWatch, a site that tells you where you can stream, rent, and buy movies.
Honorable mention: as a young kid I remember watching a collection of classic cartoons on VHS that included a version of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer plus a few other short cartoons like Christmas Comes But Once A Year, Somewhere in Dreamland, Christmas Night, Our Funny Finny Friends, and The Christmas Visitor. It’s really funny to revisit these now! 😂 Some of them are definitely head-scratchers!
