Hello! I’m Cristina, the designer and owner behind The Lovely Geek.
I’m the oldest of two and the geek of the family. I grew up in Northern California, starting in the foothills then moving to the Bay Area for a couple of years only to make my way back to the foothills where I currently call home.
I’m married to an awesome guy named Joshua, and we got married on our six-year dating anniversary in November 2010. We’re huge Dave Ramsey fans and enjoy teaching his class at our local church twice a year. We live with my sister, our two dogs, Tucker and Mr. Big, and two cats, Izzie and Bella.
In 2015 I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), so I’ve been learning everything I can on how to manage the symptoms of this incurable disease. I’ve been exploring a gluten-free, low-to-no dairy and sugar diet, practicing yoga as well as doing what I can to lose weight and clear my skin. PCOS Diva and Dashing Dish have become invaluable resources for my diet and health, just to name a few.
The Lovely Geek
I’ve been blogging since 2002 before it became it a thing and have blogged at various domains over the years before landing on The Lovely Geek. I love all things web design (and WordPress) and have my Bachelor’s of Science in Web Design & Interactive Media from The Art Institute of California – Sacramento. I get teased as a workaholic, but really I just love what I do!
I spend my days working as a UI/UX Designer for a digital marketing agency in Sacramento. When I’m not working, I enjoy spending my free time blogging and decorating/organizing my home. I love daydreaming about redesigning old spaces, spending hours on Pinterest, perusing the bedding/home décor aisles of Target when I should be grocery shopping, and looking for excuses to visit IKEA or buy more Philips Hue lightbulbs.
