New House, New Cure

I am so excited to be kicking off the annual January Cure in my new house! Seeing as the dust is starting to settle from all the moving, the January Cure is the perfect opportunity to get things on the right track.

Yesterday the Cure started with an assignment to clean out a drawer, but since I just moved in to my house I don’t really have a drawer to clean out. In fact, we still have things in boxes!

Today’s assignment is to make a list of projects and boy do we have projects planned for this house! The big ones will be tackled after we sell our old place. In the meantime there are plenty of small things to tackle, most of which will probably get handled with some of the Cure assignments.

Here we go!

Front Exterior

• Replace light fixture by garage
• Get a welcome mat
• Touch-up paint on front door
• Install new hardware on front door

Entry

• Update light fixture
• Decorate this space

Front Room (aka Formal Living Room)

I need to figure out what the heck to do with this space when it’s not Christmas! 😆

Dining Room

Aside from cleaning up from Christmas, this room is done. Eventually I’ll want to replace the chairs in here, but other than that this room is solid.

Family Room

• Unpack rest of boxes and organize
• Put art up on walls
• Do a shiplap wall on the wall where the fireplace is
• Mount TV
• Integrate surround sound speakers

Downstairs Closet

Organize. 👀

Powder Room

• Replace faucet
• Put up new mirror
• Add modern hardware to cabinets
• Replace toilet
• Replace light fixtures

Laundry Room

• Replace door with a glass one
• Install cat door
• Add a plant pot with cat grasses to the window sill for the kitties
• Replace light fixture
• Paint cabinets white
• Add modern hardware to cabinets
• Add some hanging potted plants

Kitchen + Pantry

• Get a damn fridge! 😩 We ordered one at the end of November and our delivery keeps getting rescheduled.
• Replace oven. Our current one died so a new one should be here on the 13th of this month.
• Complete upgrade and remodel (after previous house sells)
• Replace dishwasher
• Replace stove top
• Replace microwave
• Replace door handle to pantry
• Organize pantry
• Replace light in pantry

Stairwell

Hang up pictures and art.

Master Bedroom

• Get new bedroom furniture
• Replace mattress + bed with king size one
• Setup TV
• Put up art on the walls

Master Bathroom

• Replace countertop and bathtub surrounding
• Replace faucets
• Replace mirrors
• Replace drawer pulls
• Above-counter sinks
• Get a bath towel warmer rack installed
• Replace light above bathtub
• Replace toilet
• Add shelving above toilet in WC

Master Closet

• Replace cabinets
• Paint walls

Upstairs Bathroom

• Put up mirrors
• Put up hand towel holder
• Replace faucets
• Add modern hardware to cabinets
• Figure out spot for bath towels
• Get a curtain rod and shower curtain
• Replace toilet

Nursery

• Paint my old nursery furniture
• Install ceiling fan
• Finish electrical
• Organize containers or find a home for them
• Unpack children’s books
• Hope to God that 2018 is the year this gets to be a real nursery 🙏🏻

Joshua’s Office

He’s just gotta get his space organized. 🙃

My Office

• Put all the Christmas/New Year’s stuff away
• Put up art on the walls
• Put up my Star Warts figurine case
• Get new bookshelves (the BILLYs didn’t make the move)
• Decorate and organize

Patio/Pool

• Replace fans
• Replace lightbulbs in fans with Hue ones
• Get an umbrella for the shallow end of the pool
• Patio furniture
• Poolside furniture
• Put sod in so the doggies have a place to go potty
• Incorporate more lights
• Put in some kind of sound system so we can have music going outside
• Mount the TV
