My little boy is growing so fast! I swear, I went out for an afternoon to run some errands, and he grew while I was gone. I’m also just in awe of the fact he’s here in existence. The journey to get to Lily felt SO long that when Paul joined the party it just flew by. It’s wild to think about, at least for us anyway.
He had his wellness checkup this past month and is growing perfectly! He’s about 15lbs now and is filling into his 3-6 month clothing. Some of his 0-3 month onesies he can still wear but he is definitely in his 3-6 month PJs.
He is such a happy baby, and I can’t get enough of his smiles and giggles. He does this thing where he’ll raise his eyebrows right before he flashes his little toothless grin like he’s lowkey flirting with you. We had to work SO hard to crack a smile with Lily cuz she had that ‘resting baby face’ nailed. All we have to do is make eye contact with Paul and we get the smiles. 😍
We’re still rocking our routine where we put him to be around 7pm and wake him around 11pm for a dream feed. Otherwise, he sleeps through the night, and for how exhausted I am these days I am so incredibly grateful! He’s still in the SNOO, but I’ve been trying to get him acclimated to his crib in the nursery during the day so the transition to that when the time comes will be a lot smoother.
Naps are sporadic, and it’s especially hard when I have a needy toddler running after me. I’m trying to work on getting into a routine with him since he’s getting past the “I sleep when I want” newborn phase. Hopefully, we’ll get some kind of good rhythm going soon!
Paul is definitely going through a growth spurt because his appetite has kicked up a notch. We haven’t reached the point where we’ve had to bring the 8oz bottles out, but his appetite is heading in that direction.
Despite my low supply, I’m still pumping/nursing in between formula feeding. By this time with Lily, my supply was tapering off, so I’m proud that I’ve made it this far with so no signs of slowing down. The goal has always been to do it as long as I can or up to a year.
I’ve been doing the day-to-day by myself with two littles, and let me tell you it’s a lot. I have nothing but mad respect for the mamas doing this on their own. Some days I feel really overwhelmed, especially when Lily gets extra whiney. Both of them are growing so fast, and it’s hard to be able to soak up all those moments with them because some require more attention than others. I’m so grateful whenever my sister and mom are able to come over and help out, not to mention on the weekends when Joshua is home.
A few people have asked me if I’m still working, and technically I am but it’s very minimal. I have two monthly retainer clients where I basically operate as their Creative Director. At the moment that’s all I have time for, and in an effort to avoid burnout I’ve decided to refrain from taking on new clients until 2022. My offerings plan on changing anyway 😉 so that will give me some more time to work on shiny new things. ✨
Majka Lactation Protein Powder – I’ve been rocking the protein powder from day one, but I also started trying their Booster Bites, Lactation Booster Powder, and Hydration Booster, all of which I love! All of these have been great in assisting in keeping my supply going. The ingredients are clean and they’re delicious!
4moms rockaRoo infant seat – We used this for Lily and it’s been getting its use with Paul. I currently keep in on the kitchen counter so he can hang out while I make our meals and clean. He loves rocking away and smiling at us.
