The Guest Bathroom Reveal

The Guest Bathroom Reveal #stylecure #thelovelygeek

Today I am excited to reveal our guest bathroom makeover. This past month I participated in Apartment Therapy’s Style Cure to makeover one of the rooms in my house, so I gave the guest bathroom a little love.

I always love looking back on how a room has evolved, even before I touched it, so to start here’s what it looked like right before we moved in:

Here’s what it has looked like for the past year and a half:

All we did was remove the dusty floral, replace the light, add a fresh coat of paint to the walls, updated the shower curtain, and added a little bit of decor.

Now it’s a nice little space, ready for guests:

I painted the walls the same color as our master en suite, and I updated the 80’s oak cabinets with some paint and hardware. To paint the cabinets I decided to try Rust-Oleum’s Cabinet Transformations kit. It cost about $75 and it gave me everything I needed to paint the cabinets.

The process took quite some time from start to finish, and I had to do four coats instead of two to get the coverage I wanted. Overall, I am happy with how the cabinets turned out, but I don’t think I would go so far as to paint my kitchen cabinets with this. I have plenty leftover, so I plan on using this kit to paint the linen closet cabinets.

The tray, candle, and orchid are all new, but the apothecary jars I had previously. We put in a new toilet, which was desparately needed since the previous one was always getting clogged way too easily.

I was also able to finally put my RIBBA shelf up so that my bathroom books have an official home.

Bathroom Books

Yes, I have a guest book for the bathroom, and yes, guests have filled it out. My favorite entry was by my coworker who accidentally locked himself in the bathroom with my Roomba; needless to say he rated privacy a little low.

A big shout-out and thank you to my husband for helping me throughout this entire process and putting up with my incessant, “Please do this because I gotta take pictures for my blog!”
