Today I made use of the $100 gift certificate to Bliss Spa San Francisco that Joshua gave me for Christmas. It was such a fun day, and I told Joshua that he is more than welcome to give me a gift certificate for here again.
Instead of driving into the city, I decided to take the ferry to San Francisco and then take a cab from the ferry terminal to the hotel where the spa is located. I was a little nervous as I’ve never taken a cab by myself before. Luckily as soon as I walked out to the front of the building there was a cab already going by; I felt like such a New Yorker 😝 holding my hand out to hail a cab. It was a very short drive so I was able to have enough cash to cover me both ways.
Once I arrived at the W Hotel, I hung out in the lobby for about 15 minutes talking to Joshua. I was a bit early so I was unsure if I was suppose to check-in or wait till it was closer to my appointment time. I finally decided it was too awkward waiting in the lobby so I figured I could at least look around the Bliss shop before doing the spa thing.
When I came into the spa, the receptionist told me that I could relax in the steam room until it was time for my massage. She showed me into the locker room where I got a locker to put my things in and a comfy robe + flip-flops to change into. They had all kinds of amenities: face wash, shampoo, shower caps, tampons, hair dryer, moisturizer, body lotion, deodorant, hair spray. One of the workers even brought in some eye make-up remover for me! I washed my face and spent 20 minutes relaxing in the steam room!
After my steam, I applied some moisturizer and went to sit in the lounge room till my massage therapist came to get me. The lounge had comfy sofas with magazines to read. There was a stand that had a pitcher of water with sliced lemons and cucumber, hot water for tea, and a tray of cheese, olives, crackers, and fudge brownie pieces to snack on. Yum!
My massage therapist finally came in and took me to a super nice room where I got the best massage ever. It was amazing how many knots she rolled out of my back; she said I had a lot of tension near the bottom of my spine. I can definitely say that when I go back, I’m going for the massages!
I took another break in the lounge until it was time for my manicure. When I was taken into the manicure station, I knew I was at a spa because guess what was playing on the TVs! … Sex and the City! Yup, I got to choose what episode I wanted and then sat back to enjoy my favorite TV show plus a manicure. Yeah, I was in heaven! 😍
After I changed, I bought some lotion and got to go home with a bag of free goodies, including a recyclable Bliss shopping bag. There was a cab waiting right outside to the hotel, and I made it just in time for the 3:35pm ferry back to Larkspur. Needless to say, it was a DAMN good day!
