Dining Room For Now

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Shortly after the dining room was painted back in July it became a storage hub for all kinds of things until I could finally get my booksheleves and get rid of the extra sofa. Over the weekend Joshua and I put the finishing touches on the dining room making it as complete as it can be for now.

The Dining Room

Since I splurged on new chairs for the kitchen I was able to bring those two wicker ones into the dining room. Down the road I’d love to be able to get a couple of these chairs or something similar – you know, chairs that match.

The billy half bookshelf with the cocktails poster above it is home to all things alcohol; we even snagged a wine rack for Joshua’s stash. The other bookshelf with the “Gone With the Poster” holds all my nice dishware for entertaining and whatnot.

After selling some computery things on eBay I was able to afford two lovely Billy booksheleves: one for my books, the other for my dolls and toys.

My Dolls

My Dolls

The very top shelf (not shown here) contains my nice dolls (aka the ones that came with stands, hah), second shelf holds my Lord of the Rings toys, 3rd shelf is what I like to call my “famous dolls” which includes my mom’s original Barbie and Ken from the 50s, 4th shelf is all my Disney dolls, 5th shelf holds the Barbie dolls I actually played with on a regular basis, and the last shelf has a few my childrens books and mermaid stuff.

This side of the room looks so much nicer now that we have trim back up around the door and a (somewhat) clean patio to look at.

Dining Room Mood Board

  1. IKEA BILLY/BYOM Bookcase with glass doors
  2. IKEA VURM Wine Rack
  3. West Elm Metal and Wood Chandelier
  4. IKEA MERETE Curtains
  5. Bamboo Window Roman Shade, Kona Natural
  6. Cocktails Poster
  7. Gone With the Wind Poster
  8. IKEA BILLY/BYOM Bookcase

In the near future I’d like to get a real dining room set, preferably the BJURSTA one from IKEA which would accommodate my family on get-togethers so no one will have to sit at a ‘kids table’. I have to hold off right now because my mom has dropped hints of wanting to get us a dining room set as a wedding present.
