A Day in the Life: February 2016

Reading Time: 2 minutes

A Day in the Life is a monthly linkup where bloggers document their daily life on a designated day each month to show what a typical day is like. Head over to Hey Georgie to participate!

What did you wear today?

Casual Friday! Weww! Today was like the first day this week I didn’t have a meeting, so I chose comfort. I wore my skinny jeans, sneakers, WordCamp shirt, and Art Institute sweatshirt. I also kept the makeup to a minimum.

What made you laugh?

TIL (Today I Learned)

I need to work on letting go of things I can’t control. I have a project I’m getting frustrated with because it’s getting super scope-creepy. What I have to realize is that unlike my last job, it’s not my responsibility to worry about those decisions. It’s my job to simply do the tasks that are assigned to me, not worry about how it’s getting handled behind the scenes. I need to just focus on what I am assigned to do and make sure expectations are clear. That’s all I really can do. Everything else?

let it go

The weather

The weather on February 12, 2016

Already feeling Spring here! As much as we need more rain, the weather was super nice, and at one point I took a walk around the outside of my building to enjoy it.

Theme: People!

Four people I interacted with today…

Dani – My seesta. She left for Santa Cruz yesterday and because she was working late shifts at the beginning of the week I feel like I haven’t seen her all week. It was nice to get to chat with her a little this morning even if she was teensy bit hungover, haha.

Sandra – My awesome business coach. She comes in once a month to talk to our team one-on-one and help us set goals. Today I had a really good talk with her, like always. My motto of the day? Clarify expectations!

Kara – One of my amazing project managers! Had some good chats with her today as well, and I’m feeling super pumped for Monday when we present round two of design for a project we’ve been working on.

Joshua – The hubs! We got a Red Lobster gift card for our birthdays, so we decided to use it for date night. And by going out tonight instead of tomorrow or Sunday we avoided having to deal with the Valentine’s Day crowd.

Smart move to avoid the crowds on Valentine’s Day 😀 Nick and I have spent a lot of money preparing our trip to Europe later in the year, so thought we would give ‘formal’ celebrations a miss. Everything gets doubled in price on Valentine’s Day which is ridiculous and unfair!

I should consider myself lucky because we don’t have casual Fridays – we can dress however we like! I like to dress up, though, so either way, casual Friday wouldn’t be a great advantage or celebration for me. 😛 In fact, at my old workplace I did Formal Fridays with my friend as a joke, and we dressed up a lot more formally than we usually did!

Your sister’s message gave me a good laugh. 😀

Thank you for participating in A Day in the Life!

I’m a lightweight, so a few ounces of anything alcoholic can make me a little tipsy. :s I’ve not sent anything like your sister’s text, but I’ve sent messages to my first (and currently an ex) boyfriend’s older bro, asking him something along the lines of, “See how Andrew feels about me; ask him if he still has feelings for me pleaseee.” At least I don’t have Andrew’s number? XD

Avoiding the V-Day traffic makes sense; a lot of my friends go out on Valentine’s Day and always complain about the crowds and all that jazz. >.<
